Hallo, als Neuling hier im Forum hätte ich mal gerne gewusst ob es die Chiefs der 40 er Jahre mit verchromten Vorderradgabeln gegeben hat , oder ob diese im nachhinein so gemacht wurden
Suche eine Indian gerne eine alte Restauration der Jahre 46-48 zum Kauf.

Hallo OHV (unpassender Name ;-) ),

serienmässig waren die Gabeln schwarz. Mir gefallen zusätzliche Verchromungen gar nicht. Um feststellen zu können was original ist und was nicht, ist dieses Buch sehr hilfreich:

Ich finde die hier schön, die ist allerdings eher am oberen Ende der üblichen Preise angesiedelt:

Ich würde sagen, es geht bei Bikes mit denen man sofort fahren kann, bei optischen Mängeln und/oder Originalitätsmängeln, vielleicht etwas Reparaturbedarf, irgendwo bei 18, eher 20.000 € los und endet bei annähernd perfekten Bikes mit matching numbers an der 30.000er Schallmauer.

Hallo OHV,

ich spiele gerade mit dem Gedanken, meine 48er Chief abzugeben. Sie hat eine verchromte Gabel (nicht original), basiert auf einem Design von Bob Stark aus den 80ern (rot/schwarz). Dieses war auch Basis für ein Modell, das man ab und an in heimischen Vitrinen findet. Bei Interesse melde Dich bitte bei mir per PN. Für alle sonstigen Interessierten: ich werde bei Gelegenheit ein paar Bilder und weitere Beschreibung im Forum publik machen.
